Ghosts
invade suburbia in this 1982 horror film from director Tobe Hooper
(TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE) and producer Steven Spielberg. Life in the
Freeling family's tract home is comfortably bland, but frisky
poltergeists soon put a little excitement into their daily
routine--moving furniture and communicating with their youngest
daughter, Carol Anne, through the television set. Unfortunately,
harmless pranks quickly turn nasty and the previously friendly ghosts
kidnap Carol Anne, trapping her in the spirit world. To win the child
back, the family calls in a team of parapsychologists and a psychic who
conducts an elaborate exorcism. The apocalyptic finale is deliciously
macabre, and pushed the limits of the PG rating. A number of sequels
followed, and speculation still remains on whether Spielberg--who wrote
the story and storyboarded the action--essentially ghost directed the
film.

I will bid again on ebay.
Well I think Poltergeist is scarey and hard to find so was looking on ebay to buy and found one for a great price.
I gave that one to my daughter and will have to buy myself another one but it is great to buy on ebay because there is such a large selection and great prices and fun bidding.

The only movie that scares me to this day.
The title prettymuch sums it up. At the time of it's release this movie had a good start. Being produced by Stephen Speilburg made it an automatic interest and director Toby Hooper did a fantastic job bringing together an image of an all american family in white bread suburbia. Unfortunately Spielburg's own directed movie E.T. Was released shortly after and put this film and many others in the dust. This movie horrified me as a kid to the point I would not be able to sleep if I heard a TV left on in the house, or could go near on that was full of static. Poltergeist--25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition
One of the all-time classic paranormal horror flicks of its time! 'They're here!' starts this roller-coaster ride of a possessed home in suburbia. The book "Poltergeist" is, of course, better, all in all, but the Spielberg-produced classic is more than worth the viewing over and over and over again! Craig T. Nelson and Jo Beth Williams stars as the husband and wife of this traumatized family. (Wonder whatever happened to the little-girl actress who uttered those famous words--"They're here!"?)
